Summer Reading Program Kick-Off Carnival
Saturday, June 21, 10:00am
The Summer Reading Program Kick-Off Carnival will feature entertainment and games for children of all ages from TREVOR The Games Man, and will also include a bounce house, sno-cones, and lots of other fun activities. Children will have the opportunity to register for the Summer Reading Program (SRP) and track their reading over the summer. All registered children will be entered into a raffle to win a basket filled with art supplies.
TREVOR “The Games Man” is a multiple award-winning entertainer. He is a trained and certified New Games Leader, Cooperative Play Specialist, Professional Stiltwalker, and Cooperative Play Educator, and he guarantees fun for everyone! According to psychologist and magician Michael Ward, “Nobody does what Trevor does. And nobody does it as well as he does.”
The Colorful World of Butterflies
Monday, July 14, 1:00pm
Audiences will see wonderful slides of our local butterflies, presented by Jerry Schneider, creator of the award winning Butterfly Game. Jerry brings displays of butterflies and moths, cocoons, and sometimes caterpillars.
Get answers to questions such as: How can we attract more butterflies to our back yards? What are some ways we can conserve butterfly habitat? What does a good butterfly garden look like? When, how, and why do Monarch butterflies go to Mexico? We’ll also learn interesting butterfly characteristics (did you know that butterflies taste with their feet?).
The second half of the program is a wonderful t-shirt craft.
