Winter Reading Series in the Victorian Novel

You may have read them years ago . . . or read about them . . . perhaps you even saw the movies!
Maybe Tess of the d’Urbervilles, Wuthering Heights, Middlemarch, or Bleak House?
But what’s in those long reads really? What effect does reading them have on your brain? What do they have to tell us about what life feels like today?
It turns out they contain worlds. They contain questions and ideas and critiques that are alive for us in the present moment. Reading them has a far different effect than watching the movies, and discussing them with others is even more beneficial.
We’ll meet during daylight hours, at a time agreed upon by the group at the Dummerston Community Center and Library in the upstairs Community Room. Snacks and drinks will be provided!
Join Library Board Trustee and host Kathryn Jansak who holds a Ph.D. in Victorian literature, as we wade into the greats of 19th-century fiction together.
